Equipped With Happiness

About

Life is better when we are happy…

when we wake up excited to get out of bed, when we can’t seem to stop the corners of our mouths from turning up, when we walk around just feeling good inside.

I think if we could, most of us would try to spend every day that way. But finding that feeling is not always easy. Sometimes the world just seems bleak, and it’s hard to imagine a way to be happy again.

That’s where this blog comes in.  I certainly don’t claim to be an expert on happiness. I don’t think I ever could be, since happiness means something different to everyone. Instead, I just want to share my thoughts on ways to live a happier life, and the reasons I find to smile. My hope is that there will be a little something here for everyone, and that these posts will leave you feeling ready to take on life equipped with happiness.

  1. I love the ideas of how to find things to be happy about. I have found that on my bad days if I can find kind things to say to people, even strangers, it breaks the momentum of that sad mood. Putting a smile on someone else’s face seems to be contagious and I find I am also smiling.

  2. In fact, just smiling in greeting to another person could make both people happier. Neurotransmitters in the first person’s brain will begin to fire in the ways associated with generating a smile, adjusting the neurochemical balance in such a way that the person will experience a subtly more positive emotional state. Mirror neurons in the second person’s brain will cause him to smile, too, starting the same neurochemical chain of events for him. And on it goes. 🙂
